bicycle times cover progress.
i've been fortunate enough to be creating a cover for pittsburgh based magazine bicycle times. a good friend of mine that i used to work with is now the art director of the magazine and i have been working with him to get this where they need it to be. he basically left the theme up to me and i'm not quite sure why i decided to go in this direction, but it makes sense to me i guess. i like riding and it's my first cover gig, so i'm just running with that. i believe this is distributed out and about most of the world, so that's interesting. here's where i'm at thus far, i wouldn't doubt some colors being adjusted , but i'll probably keep mostly with what i have going on. the second version with the jagged background lines was nixed, which was a bummer. until then.

this is great man, your line work is looking solid. i do like the background lines in the first image, sucks they don't want them there. I def think some sort of graphic element in the background would look nice, something subtle to add another interesting element. depending on what they want though. great job man, hopefully i can find a copy of the magazine once it's published
ReplyDeletethanks, timmy. i think it shaped out well. your suggestions are certainly valid. i was trying to go for something along those lines. i think it should be out on stands at the end of march.
